Mayor Dean looking for new home for Christmas Memories display

Christmas Memories in LeRoy, Illinois will close for the season on Sunday, Feb. 5, at 4 p.m. Hours for the final weekend are Friday, 1-4 p.m., Saturday, 10 a.m.- 4 p.m., and Sunday, 1-4 p.m. The display is located in the former fire building, 110 S. East Street.

Due to renovations planned in 2017 for the building, a portion of which has been occupied by the display for three years, Mayor Steve Dean is searching for a new location for Christmas Memories, with the intention of turning it in to a 12-month “draw” for the city.

So far this season, visitors have come from all over Illinois, as well as several other states and two other countries. And, thanks to media publicity, the display has been featured in newspapers and on television throughout the country.

Dean is searching for space that will accommodate the entirety of his collection and will allow the display to grow, with the addition of larger pieces, room displays, and antique and collectible toys, as well as the addition of a model railroad display and a Visitor’s Center for LeRoy.
