Giving back

Steve Vollmer of LeRoy has recently been recognized with a Dupont volunteer recognition award. this award is given to six out Dupont's 12,000 employees nationwide. The award seeks to recognize the spirit of caring and service demonstrated as a volunteer. Established in 1998, the program recognizes employees or teams of employees who devote their time and talents to improve the quality of life in their communities.

Vollmer, who works at Pioneer in LeRoy, earned the recognition because a co-worked sent a letter of recommendation to Dupont's headquarters.

Despite being humbled by the recognition, Vollmer says the work he does is simply giving back because he has been given so much.

"I've have been so blessed, and it just makes me feel so good that I can try to give something back," Vollmer said.
