LaMont, Elam named to all-state teams

LeROy’s Alex LaMont, a senior, and Tri-Valley’s Cam Elam, a junior, were both named to the Illinois High School Football Coaches Association  all-state teams this year. Both players excelled on the offensive and defensive lines for their teams at the Class A and 2A levels, respectively. Below the teams are listed. 

 


Panthers make 2nd round exit

LeROY — The football season came to an end Saturday afternoon in a tight contest hosted by the Panthers at LeRoy High School. 

Through one quarter, the Panthers were able to build an 8-7 lead as senior quarterback Brett Egan found Adam Phillips with an early touchdown pass midway through the first before the two-point conversion.

DOWNS — The Tri-Valley Vikings saw a tremendous season and historic win streak come to an unfortunate ending last Saturday at Viking Field as they fell to the DuQuoin Indians 42-28 in IHSA second round playoff action.


Vikings record 5th shutout to open playoffs

DOWNS — The Viking defense imposed its will in the opening round of the Class 2A playoffs, allowing just 22 yards of total offense in another shutout victory.

Panthers send 25th team to playoffs

LeROY – For the 25th time in the program’s history and the third time in as many years, the LeRoy Panthers are headed to the IHSA playoffs. 

“Obviously we are very proud,” LeRoy head coach BJ Zeleznik said after the team’s sixth win of the season. “There’s a lot of people that put in a lot of work to get this moment.

Safety saves Panthers from third shutout

LeROY — A fourth-quarter safety recorded by the LeRoy Panthers allowed the squad to avoid their third shutout on the season Friday night in a loss to the Deer Creek-Mackinaw Chiefs. 

The lone LeRoy scoring play was a defensive effort led by seniors Dalton Noe and Alex LaMont, and was one of few bright spots against a solid, undefeated Dee-Mack squad. 


Banged-up Knights take homecoming loss

FARMER CITY- After losing their starting quarterback, backup quarterback and starting fullback due to recent injuries, the Blue Ridge High School football team had to make some adjustments and get creative Friday night for their final varsity contest.
